Announcement

I have no idea what I am doing... apparently I am blog challenged and never knew it!

Anyway, Hello to all!

I have some reunion news and would like some feedback. The tentative date for the 30th (which is actually the 31st but let's not get technical)is July 21st. If anyone has any compelling reason why this date won't work, plese let me know. The concensus is that we should have events planned for the entire weekend - including a casual Friday night gathering, SHS tours, and so on. I think it would be great to invite teachers so if anyone has any contact info on them, pass it along. We'll make this a grand affair and really work hard on getting classmates that normally don't do reunions (Mike P) to attend. Any ideas and/or suggestions will be appreciated.

Unlike many people I know (none of whom went to SHS) - I have wonderful memories of high school.

Does anyone else agree that SHS Class of 76 should pitch in and sponsor Gary's guestbook online with the Journal-Sentinal? Looks like it's going to time-out on Monday. That is the place where Claudia found all the addresses to get this blog going....

I agree, Anita.

I'm happy to just do it, and you guys can buy me a drink or something at the...31st.

Done. Should read "Sponsored by Shorewood High School class of '76" shortly.

That is a great idea, didnt even get a chance to chip in- and it was done. That is really nice, and I'm sure his family really appreciates it.

...and can continue to send birthday and Christmas greetings.

Anyway, going back to the reunion date of July 21,2007-- is there anyone that absolutely can't make it then?

Claudia, are you going to make the trek??

No other plans for that date yet that I know of. Robert is a contractor and often finds it difficult to leave Polson in the summer -- he's usually in the middle of something important. But my dad hasn't been feeling so hot, so I've been making more trips to Wisconsin lately. Maddie and I can come. Robert and Agatha can stay home. And then Maddie can go hang out in Chicago with her cousin John. Bet it will work.

PEGGY!! Who is this mysterious Mike P you speak of? And have you contacted Lori Brandt and others who were helping organize the real reunion about the site?

Thank you so much, Peggy!! Do you realize how long we've known eachother? Sheesh!!

Hey, my husband's a contractor, also (electrical, to be specific!) So I am quite aware of how difficult it is to make summer family plans-- although we did manage to finagle a 2-week trip to Latvia a couple summers ago-- all six of us-- yay!
You know, we could do an event for families, too-- where the kids could meet....
Now, remember this is a co-operative effort, not just Peggy and a handful of others doing all the planning, and having the ones that didn't help complain about it being a flop. Heck, with tools like the internet and free long-distance phone service, it's easy to find contacts if they're listed. That's how I contacted Peggy-- and I'm in Michigan.

All SIX of you?!!

How did I miss THAT???

July 21 is my Anniversary, but this past July 21 I spent it with college friends in New Hampshire!! So who cares! HA. Actually I cannot commit this eary to anything past April 15 (Tax Day). BUT if there is golfing outing involved I am sure my husband would travel anywhere, he always talks about that new course along Lake Michigan? I am in need of a contractor and Electrical contractor.....wish your husbands were here in New England. Actually I came to the 10 Reunion alone, I don't care! Was there a 25th Reunion, or is that just chatter? Any of you there? I was not invited???

Deb, July 21st will be my parents' 50th anniversary(I was the the honeymoon baby,) and I asked my mom if she was planning anything for that, but it's still early....
Either way, I'll be around.
Yes, there was a 25th, but I don't know how much planning went into it. I was surprised at the small turnout. Gary was there, and at the final hour, started inviting everyone to his house for a pool party the next day, which only a handful of us brave souls attended. I'm glad I went because that's the last time some of us saw him.
The 20th was, by far, the most organized-- including a golf outing, a tour of SHS by Mr. Maki, and the infamous family picnic of which Mike Sz speaks so fondly. Were you even there, Mike?
Anyway, the coolest thing about the 20th was the 42-page book that was put together with senior pictures and responses to a questionnaire that was mailed out beforehand. It contains all of the addresses and phone numbers that they found. Claudia, it looks like they had your address in Polson back then, but you didn't fill out a survey. Same for Mitch in Backus, Minnesota. Mitch, are you going to leave the northwoods of Minnesota to visit with your classmates in Shorewood next summer?
Joan, the 20-yearbook says that they were unable to locate you. Well, now that you are found, I assume that you will be present to accept the drinks that we owe you, right?
So, we need to hear from everyone else. Does that date work, and where should it be?? In a classmates.com message, Nathania or someone mentioned a place on the lakefront. The 20th was on the riverfront. Any ideas?

Yes, I recieved that book from the 20th in the mail by Bano, which is here somehwhere?
Anywhere but the Hubbard Lodge.....(is that place still standing?)
Been gone from Milw. for 23 yrs. so don't know much about locations.

I posted a while ago, and it got lost!

What I think I said: Anita, they found me for the 20th, I was there, but I never heard about the 25th.

I will plan on July 21. Love the idea of a family picnic as part of it, as well as an adults-only gathering. I'd also urge simplicity and ease -- events that are easy to pull off with a far-flung group like this! And I second your notion that we can help remotely -- although I'm not sure exactly how. But I'll come up with something.

wasn't there was a group picture taken at the 20th reunion?? I wasn't there but Sharon Dunkleman showed it to me. Can that be posted on this?

I'm pretty sure I have that picture somewhere. If I can find it, I'll post it.

peggy did you get my message?

First things first...
Laurel - where is this mysterious message you speak of?
Claudia - The Mike P I am referring to is Mike Pawlak(sp) but I couldn't remember how to spell his name and was too lazy to go upstairs and look it up in the yearbook. And there are more out there. I need to look over the class list but I think the number of reunion slackers is huge.
By the way, remind me to tell you about the Hartford Ave reunion - different blog, different day.
Okay, back to the 31st (we are rebels!). I am feeling really nostolgic these days and thought it would be fun to compile pictures for a DVD presentation the night of the reunion. Before and afters - a "through the years" sort of thing. Probably easy to do on computer but another area where I in the dark. Any volunteers that would take this on?
I am collecting info on some different venues for the adult (I use that term loosley) event. I will share this when I get it.
Anita - thanks for showing me this site.
Joan - I'll buy you 2 drinks as long as they are are rail and really cheap. Just kiddin! Thank you for the Gary guest book thing.

My kids are in the computer room with me and have been fighting with each other the entire time. Now Sydney (6) just took a swing at Harper (10) and they are both crying. That tells me it's time for a Zanex and some parenting. Gotta go

Peggy,
Put the Xanex away, and have a beer. Ha
I did a DVD show for my sons 6th grade using Power Point. It was quite involved, using fading techniques, and timing and music, but I did it alongside a computer geek, so it worked out great. When it was over- after swearing at Power Point- I heard that Microsoft Multi Media is easier to do that sort of thing on. Free download I guess? So I could ATTEMPT it. Anyone have knowledge of Multi Media stuff?
FYI:
Those Slides from graduation is the Mother load of images from the "old daze", don't know how to convert slides into digital images? Anyone? Bano has the slides? I hope?
Also, Cathy Billings sounds familiar, but she is not in the Copperdome, refresh my memory Please. Anyone hear from Barb Hogan or Cathy Breitbach?

So far, July 21 would work if I'm not at in-laws 50th, or incarcerated - so far, I've avoided the one but the in-laws are hard to ignore since I'm pretty sure I have a chance in their will!

Wild horses wouldn't be able to drag me away from the reunion ("Sticky Fingers" - '71) or a chance to buy Joan Walsh not only a drink, but maybe some nice young waiter.

Hey Anita: The Backus address still works as does my email posted in Gary's guestbook (crkside@uslink.net). I'll keep checking this site for the news and to keep reminding you all that Kim Jong and I were molested by Catholic priests at young ages.

Deb, Cathy Billings' picture somehow is not in the senior year Copperdome, but I just looked, and she IS in all three of the other years. She was on the gymnastics team.
