I see they're STILL trying to enhance school spirit over there. Weren't there actual announcements about that over the PA when we were there? Am I remembering that right?

Thanks for the picture, Anita. Where'd you find it?

I took that picture in the lobby of the Arena, when I was taking a bunch of pictures of SHS, over Thanksgiving break

Great, a new stadium.....! Go Greyhounds!

BUT, the big question (and drum roll, please) is whether there will still be nooks and crannies under the seats to smoke pot! What are they thinking? You cannot improve upon the past delinquency with multi-million $$$ state-of-the-art stadiums.

Come GreyHairs of the 31st Reunion. Let's stand united. Let's protest the new stadium.
It prob won't even have plastic-door outdoor johns that tilt to one side when you sit down.

All for one, and one for all: the old stadium with beer-fermented press box and splintered wood seats was good for everyone. Schlitz for everyone!
The next round is on me!

In this case, evolution is regression and let's get back to the future.

Ooh, watch out, here comes Mr. Foti.....and Mr. Kupfer. Hide the gram!

Wow, I must have missed a lot during my years at SIS and SHS.......

Deb, et al:

Oh, improvisation hyperbole late at night is a great talent to develop. Try it, if you wish.

You see, we were good at eating SIS popsicles and ice cream sandwiches by the bleachers at the old stadium.

But I think we reserved our sharpening of the senses for King Cue, the Vacant Lot, or the after-high school freshmen dorm bong parties. Besides all that as a disclaimer, we did not "inhale," ala Bubba's alibi.

Boy! This thing looks way high tech for the recent talents of this HS. Do you think it will create great atheletes or be more of a money maker for the school. At any rate, I think it's a good thing.
Dan I do agree,I will miss the great memories of that stadium. More to tell later.

I hear they've dropped the football team, and this will be used mostly for soccer.

Anita ! Oh my God! SHS Will not have a football team! Well I know that they were the laughing stocks of the HS system for many years but I'm sorry- Who was in charge & I suppose recruiting the youngins! I know that Gary M. would be very dismayed. Again, let them play , as they may, for it's better for their health! (than computers!)There's nothing wrong with soccer- a great international sport!(sans violence).

Anonymous Here, who doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so its staying hermaphroditic here in opinion......You see, the SHS stadium being for soccer only is sorta sickening. Cuz: I only watch soccer when I have insomnia. It has the same affect as driving around the block does for my kid when it's crying too much.
Mr. Rogers, can you spell S-L-E-E-P as in soccer-makes-me-sleepy-cuz-it's-so-boring.

How rivteting: a 1 to nothing score with the Avalanche beating the SoccerMoms.

Whaddya mean-- ya don't want to hurt anyone's feelings?
I like soccer

I second Anita. I love to watch soccer. It's a very exciting game and can actually get pretty physical. Anyone see Zidane's head butt at the World Cup?

Besides, I finally learned what a down was just last fall... Still, I'm a cheesehead in spirit.

Well I won't beat around the bush, not that I ever do. But this just Sucks! No Football??? To replace Football with Soccer? I'm really blown away.
Helloooooo, this IS a football State for pete's sake!
And no I'm not saying I don't like Soccer but no way do I believe it can compare. The rivalry and pep rallies and Friday Night Lights will never be the same. (sigh)

P.S. Something stinks at SHS

Hey! I hear you Martine! It will never be the same. You can now consider yourself part of a bygone era ( along with the dinks - sad but true)

Anonymous said...

Yeah, TOTALLY, true what all's UseGuys and Gals say:

Can you believe there will be no more Mr. Bushner leading the (out of step) Marching Band down the field? The out-of-key C minor chords falls flat and is a sharp bayonet dagger in the YesterYear Yore of our Collective Consciousness from the past.

Us out of tune Tuba Blowers unite in reciting our guttural plea:

No New Stadium!

The drawing in the photo looks Rovian:
"Enhanced School Spirit at Events."

Ha! We had our own spirits under our jacket!
Rum & Coke in the 1/5th, and that's the Blarney Truth!

Bushner was the strings leader.
LeRoy Augustine, and later Mr. Pendelton was the band leader

RE: Soccer vs. football
You can like BOTH sports, we love both in our family. But because they are both fall sports, (in the USA), many schools do choose one or the other. FB is far more expensive. Equipment mostly. All you need is a ball and grass for soccer. Plus soccer is played by boys and girls, (remember Title 9, in Federal mandate in l973, I think). Where is Brenda Weare for confirmation on that?

Thanks for the fact checking!

Great work!

The intention was the tongue in cheek.......Does anyone else here have jocularity and tongue in cheek abilities?

Ok, who is Anonymous???

Anonymous said...

Asking "Who is anonymous?" reminds me of a co-worker.

The co-worker, Beth, actually had the temerity to go around the office asking EVERY one of her co-employees if s/he was the tattler who finked to the boss that a photo of W and Laura above Beth's desk was inappropriate? Beth was the receptionist, so EVERYONE thought it inappropriate for guests/visitors to see that photo upon entering our multi-million $$$ office.

Well, why would anyone say "yes...I'm the one" to Beth?

Thus, hence, ergo: Why would anyone named Anonymous reveal its identity? :-)

Ok we can handle insecure Lurkers :-)
