Here's one of our teachers:

This is Sally Kneser and her husband, Jim. She taught French, English, Drama Club and Volleyball. They are now in Colorado and both helped organize an institute in Denver called the Academy for Lifelong Learning (www.Academyll.com) and are teaching there.

OK,Deb, are you happy?

That is so nice, I loved Mrs. Kneser.

Not mentioning names, but does anyone remember when someone in our class stole her purse and used her credit cards -- and got caught? So wrong...

Yes Anita, I'm happy,it is a good photo yah know. And love the "NOW" photo idea. MJB, you can post one of you!!
I don't remember when someone stole her purse???? Using someones credit cards, WOW, advanced for high school??? Not like you could secretly order off the internet back then??

Jim K in the picture above was my next door neighbor ... he looks older than I remember him. He was a very nice person and so was Sally.

She was a change of pace in French class compared to Mr. Decker and Kramoris.

What was the volleyball trophy for???

For you out-of-staters (a lot of you are in warmer climes, right?), we are getting a snow and ice storm right now. Lot's of car accidents ... the snow and sleet is blowing sideways. Miss that at all?

I really do miss the four seasons, and especially the snow ! It's ALWAYS hot and sunny, so boring.
So I am jealous right now. I love to ski, so I spend time in the winter in Deer Valley, Utah. It's beautiful there and the skiing is great.
So Dave, maybe this is a good night to stay in!

Does anyone else like to ski? It would be fun to meet somewhere one weekend or during the week and go skiing .

Laurel,
It's cold, windy, and flipping between freezing rain and snow.
I would love the boring, sunny warmth you speak of.

Dave & Laurel, etc. et al:

Oh Laurel!: Wow.....skiing in Deer Valley, UT must be nice....but I'm here as Uncle D The WeatherGuy to tell you GreyHounds the truth: It's not ALWAYSs hot and sunny in CA where we live.

In fact, our rainy season (Nov - March each year, typically) has just begun.

When it rains down on the flats where Laurel and Joan and me live, then it snows up high at 7,000' in the Sierra Mountains (and in Utah where Laurel hangs out.....Lucky you, Laurel!)

In any event, Laurel probably considers herself lucky like me -- as my wife and I go up to xc ski skate almost every weekend starting now, BUT it's a winter we can leave behind after the weekend's done. It's a DriveThru Experience ........and then you push the ejection button, head back down the mountain again, to get outta there and get back to the warmth of home.

When we get stuck with a snowstorm where we xc ski, then we're shoveling out 3-6' drifts....and it snowed more than 300" at our house in the mountains last year. That's no typo: 300" covered the house by April 15 and there were still snowdrifts there in June that had not melted.

Sure, Dave, we're glad to be outta the Tundra of the Midwest, but we've only got water here in CA 'cuz it rains a lot of the winter. That's why you see the "FLOODS in CA" headlines so often there.....GreyHound Tribe Members should know that we got nearly 200% of normal rains last year in most of CA. It rained nearly 300% of normal in S. CA with our rainy season typically begins now through March.

That's why I'll bet Laurel has a nice umbrella. Correct, Laurel!?

Has it rained where you live yet?

We're getting 3 inches of the White Gold in the mountains tonight where we'll head next month to xc ski skate.

Happy Weekend Everyone! Daniel

Ahem...I live about 65 miles from Big Mountain. It's a NICE place to ski! Any takers?

Well today here it was 63 degrees, sunny and I am still planting bushes in the ground. I already heard it was snowing from my sister in EauClaire.
Laurel, I quit skiing about three years ago, when I decided it was too much work, and they wouldn't let me just ride the lift up, and down to enjoy the view. Went to the White Mtns in NH.
Just caught the last 30 seconds of Joan on PBS, I got yelled at by my boys for flipping the station from Soccer. Lookin good Joan!!!

Yes, Deb R.: Wondering about those bushes you planted in the ground today? Did you mean Tuesday instead? That was a LandSlide Planting Day.......Sorry, could not resist the shoehorn opening you left (smile)

Well, Uncle D, I guess I kinda did forget about that rain. I think you get more though, I love the rain too.
Peggy, you know the grass is always greener on the other side!
Claudia, will you be skiing too?
Deb, it is work. I remember one time when our 3 kids were small and my husband took them to their little ski school and came back to get me, I walked out and was stepping into my skiis and looked over and said " Honey are skiing today with or without pants?" He was so tired from getting the 3 of them dressed and out, he was still in his long underwear, and forgot to put on his ski pants.

Laurel, it just must not be cold enough.
Dave M, Jim K looks older because he IS older now. You are older too, and most likely, you look older too. If you don't, that's totally not fair.
And the trophy's for winning Sectionals in '74.

Claudia, are you saying skiing party at your place?

Unknown said...

Skiing is way tooo much work, I'll stay back and hang around with who ever else is being lazy. Claudia are there any coyotes near you?

Patti Breitbach Rashid said...

C'mon Peggy, where's your sense of adventure?!

My sons high school soccer team won their Regional Championship today. They beat heavily favored Nantucket, (as in the Island). I told him to enjoy and to relish the moment! I took a great group photo and told him that in 30 years it may be posted on a Blog celebrating friendships and high school memories. He just sort of smiled and said, "Yeah Right".

Anonymous said...

Congrats on your son's win! Did you have the coach hold the trophy and the kids facing the same direction??

Anonymous said...

Oh Deb I love that you told him to think ahead 30 years!! Good luck trying to get him to take THAT seriously! That is so sweet!

And Deb, I think I'm going to nickname you Coyote pretty soon. Hey, it occurs to me, are you familiar with "Coyote Stories?" "Coyote" is a very well known and loved character in many Native American stories. On this reservation (Flathead) coyote stories are traditionally told only at a certain time of year (now I can't remember, but I THINK it's Spring) and traditionally only orally. Although there are some books on our Salish-Kootenai College bookstore about good old Coyote. He's a trickster. They are WONDERFUL stories, and could warm you up to coyotes...maybe!

Anonymous said...

Peggy: FUNNY!!!

Patti: You are so brave -- back to the snow, eh?

Fabulous!!!

Yay Deb!

Anita, you guys on the Volleyball team were far more polished, and poised, for your shot of glory!!! Everyone matches and all!!
Thank you Claud for the info..... interesting.
You know I am a real animal lover, but am slightly annoyed at those critters. They have eaten many domesticated animals in the area, including my kitty, (sniff, boo hoo), which is perplexing since the Bay is 100 yds from my house, with a literal buffet of fine dining: clams, crabs, geese, fish , and even fisherman for heavens sake!!?
Of course you must know that I am just being silly, most of the time, I have to toss my "coyote" comments out there just to get your very funny, and wise ass comments! Ha

It's kind of excellent.

We did have a get-together many years back at Kathy's along with Brenda, Laura Messner; but now their reason for returning has passed. Just emails & Xmas cards w/pics.
Don't worry, Joan, they are WAY too busy to sift through this blog. They are super-involved in their academy; Jim is president, and Sally is director.

Skiing? Oh that sounds like so much fun. Jodie and Thalia put me on a pair of shorties for some night skiing Sophmore year. What a very fun way to learn!
Loved going every year to Colorado until my second was born. Wow, that was 13 yrs ago.
